Teachers Union Slams ‘Wear it Purple Day’ in Schools

29 August 2024

Tomorrow marks yet another day that young Australian children are subjected to dangerous, radical ideologies at their schools.

'Wear it Purple Day' has been foisted onto teachers and students across our country by various state governments and mainstream education unions.

Wear It Purple are a member organisation of the International Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Intersex Association (ILGA), which has routinely advocated for children to receive irreversible transgender surgery, as well as lowering the age of consent for minors.

National Secretary of the Teachers’ Professional Association Edward Schuller has spoken out, slamming the mainstream education unions and state governments that have promoted this.

“The TPAA holds the firm belief that radical sexual and gender ideology has no place in our education system. It is utterly reprehensible that teachers are being pressured to buy into this.

“Days of activism like Wear it Purple completely undermine parental trust in our education system, which is already at a devastating low. This has been pushed onto schools from the top down by bureaucrats and unions with absolutely no regard for students, teachers or parents.

“Over the past few years, we've seen a sharp rise in social and political agendas being pushed onto students through the schooling system. This is a grave concern for teachers, principals, and parents alike. An increasing number of parents have become weary about what their child is being taught.

“We know that the majority of teachers share this concern, but are afraid to stand up due to a genuine fear of being targeted and facing severe backlash.

“The TPAA will always be willing to fight back. We will always do what we can to protect the next generation of young Australians, and equip teachers to do the same.”
