You have questions. We have answers.
About TPAA
-
Why did TPAA start?
To give a choice in representation. Teachers, not the government nor your employer can now choose who represents and protects them.
-
Who can join?
All Teachers, including Senior Teachers, Head of Departments and Executive Principals can join.
Membership fees do not differ based on your role, only depending on the amount of hours you work a fortnight (see our membership options). -
Can I only join if I'm in Queensland?
We will cover you Australia wide, including your PI insurance - which covers you worldwide excluding Canada and the USA. The only difference will be that if you need support we will be able to assist you via video conference or phone call as opposed to in person.
-
What is a union really?
A union is a group of workers that collect resources for fights to protect members. The many for the few. A union should, beyond protecting individuals, negotiate wages and be prepared to act collectively. All Red Unions fulfill these definitions.
All Red Unions also satisfy definitions under International and Federal law. Heard we aren’t a real union? We wonder who would peddle untruths, perhaps those that have the most to lose. Unions that have taken members for granted.

-

The Teachers' Professional Association of Australia (TPAA) - ABN 93 587 935 271 is an industrial association of employees, whose principal purpose is to protect and promote the interests of members in matters concerning their employment. We are a non-party political alternative to other unions. Our membership fees are lower and reflective of costs rather than your salary. We provide all the same services, plus Professional Indemnity Insurance.
