MEDIA RELEASE: Political Treaty Has No Place in Victorian Schools

9 September 2025

Despite the overwhelming defeat of the proposed Voice to Parliament back in 2023, the Allan Government in Victoria are choosing to proceed against the will of the people.

According to credible reports, the government is set to mandate “Indigenous truth-telling” for every single Victorian boy and girl. From the age of 4 all the way through to graduation, children will be subject to the commands of an Indigenous-only parliamentary body.

National Secretary Edward Schuller says this decision by the government will entrench “self-loathing” and “hatred of our country” within Victorian children.

“The Allan Government is creating this body for their own political cover whilst they dramatically ramp up the anti-Australian sentiment already riddled throughout the curriculum.”

“The Victorian people voted against this. The Victorian people have told Jacinta Allan “No” repeatedly, but she simply refuses to listen to them. Whether it’s pushing transgender ideology on 5-year-olds, or telling toddlers they should feel guilt and hate their country, Allan is in her own delusional, but destructive world.”

“Instead of enacting the clear reforms required in our education system, the Premier is hellbent on creating yet another wasteful government body which will progress her hatred for what made Australia great.”

“Victorian students need to learn how to read. They need to learn how to write. They don’t need to be bombarded with an unending laundry list of grievances concerning one aspect of our national identity.”

Education Minister Ben Carroll, who has overseen the worst decline in education standards in Victorian history, says he’s “proud” to be further increasing Indigenous history lessons. Mr Schuller believes it’s an issue that the pioneering and colonial spirit that built Australia is shamed, not celebrated.

“How often do we teach of the great founders of our country? Not just the fathers of federation, but the heroism of the explorers and settlers throughout our history.”

“Why do we paint our proud and storied national heritage with the broad brush of shame and guilt?”

“Australian children should be brought up to love our great country. The fact that we have elected representatives of our nation browbeating patriotism on a daily basis is an absolute disgrace.”

The TPAA believes that the curriculum should reflect a balanced and contextual view of Australian history. Indigenous culture is an important part of our history, but it is not the entirety of our history. The TPAA is steadfast that all aspects of our collective Australian heritage should be taught in fairness.

The political treaty is set to be in effect next year, but details surrounding its operations remain scarce.
