Holding Employers Accountable & Protecting Teachers' Rights
Picture this: a dedicated teacher, committed to their craft, decides to part ways with their current employer. Armed with professionalism and integrity, they inform their employer of their resignation, expecting a smooth transition. However, their anticipation of a cordial farewell turns into dismay upon receiving a response that suggests they must perform additional tasks or face a deduction from their wages.
Feeling caught off guard and disheartened by this response, they decided to seek assistance from their trusted union TPAV.
We recognized the urgency and significance of the matter, and promptly assigned a dedicated case manager to investigate the issue. Our expert TPAA case manager delved into the details of our teacher's case. They consulted the Fair Work Act to ascertain the legality and fairness of the demands made by the employer.
After conducting a thorough investigation, the case manager discovered that the employer did not have the legal authority to deduct any funds from the teacher's wages. Furthermore, the case manager confirms that payment must be made in money at least monthly and for all hours worked , as stated in the Fair Work Act.
Armed with a thorough understanding of the case and the relevant legal knowledge, the TPAA case manager drafted a powerful letter on behalf of our member. Outlining the facts, and highlighting the employer's violation of the Fair Work Act and emphasising the importance of proper remuneration.
Upon receiving the letter, the employer acknowledged their wrongdoing and agreed to promptly process the payment owed to the member. The very next day, our member received their overdue remuneration.
How is the TPAA so effective in defending members during workplace issues and disputes? Our experienced and professional case managers use our unique REDTM case resolution system.
