A False Allegation Could Have Ended Her Career. TPAA Helped Her Keep It.

TPAA Case Update_ Real Advocacy

A false allegation of excessive force could have ended Janice’s teaching career. With TPAA’s help, the allegation was found unsubstantiated and her record stayed clean.

The case in question.

Janice had been a teacher at her school for years when, during playground duty, a formal complaint was made against her. A member of the school community alleged she had used excessive physical force on a student.

The allegation was false. Janice knew it. She had simply carried out normal playground supervision. But she also knew these situations needed to be handled with care. A formal complaint had been made. A meeting had been convened by the Acting Deputy Principal and Head. The stakes were high. A finding of misconduct involving a student can end a teaching career.

How TPAA works with members on cases.

Janice reached out to TPAA, and an advocate was with her straight away. They worked through the events in detail: exactly what had happened, where she was, what she had done, and what witnesses had seen. Together, they built a clear, factual written response that addressed the allegation directly and set out the full circumstances of the incident.

A favourable outcome.

The investigation concluded. The finding was unsubstantiated. No disciplinary action. No formal warning. Her record remained entirely clean. For Janice, who had given years of dedicated service to her school community, the proof of innocence was everything. They had done nothing wrong.
