For Australian Teacher Aide Appreciation Week 2024, we asked you to nominate a Teacher Aide who stood out, and we were overwhelmed by the hundreds of heartfelt submissions we received.

A special congratulations to our TPAA Teacher Aide of the Year, Kellie S. from Mackay! Kellie was thrilled when we informed her that she had won a $500 prepaid visa card and the Teacher Aide of the Year 2024 Award.

Kellie S received multiple nominations, here is what her colleague had to say:

When Anita Scutts, TPAA Outreach Coordinator at Red Union, called to share the exciting news, Kellie was over the moon.

What does this mean for Kellie?

An extra $500 win means her upcoming family holiday can now be that much more special. The recognition from colleagues and the TPAA was also incredibly emotional and heart-warming. It’s a reminder of how much her work as a teacher aide is valued and the positive impact she has on students.

"Being a single mum, every dollar really counts. I am touched by the recognition and incredibly thankful for the nominations. With a family holiday coming up, the $500 will mean some extra spending money, which will make a huge difference for my family."

We want to take this opportunity to congratulate Kellie S and also sincerely thank all teacher aides for their dedication and support in our schools. All nominees will  receive a letter with a special offer from our TPAA President in the coming weeks. Your commitment to helping students thrive, working alongside teachers, and ensuring the classroom runs smoothly does not go unnoticed.

Whether you’re providing individual attention to students, assisting with lessons, or offering a helping hand wherever needed, your efforts make a meaningful difference every day.

Why is the TPAA different? We believe that real change in education STARTS with empowering teachers, not bureaucrats.

We invite you to experience the support, protection, and advocacy of TPAA yourself.
